The Steelers will host the Buffalo Bills (Week 2) and Carolina Panthers (Week 4) at Heinz Field during the 2014 preseason, the team announced today.
Additionally, Pittsburgh will open the preseason against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium and will travel to Lincoln Financial Field in Week 3 for a matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Steelers will be opening the preseason schedule with the New York Giants for the second consecutive season, with the Giants winning last year’s preseason opener, 18-13, at Heinz Field. This will be the first preseason meeting between these two teams in New York since a 24-17 Pittsburgh victory in 2010.
In Week 2, the Steelers will host the Buffalo Bills in the preseason for the first time since 2009, when the Steelers won 17-0 at Heinz Field. The Steelers last faced Buffalo in the preseason in 2012 at Ralph Wilson Stadium, a 38-7 Pittsburgh victory.
Pittsburgh will then travel across the state in Week 3 for a matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, marking the ninth preseason meeting between these teams since 2003.
For the 12th consecutive year, the Steelers will conclude the preseason against the Carolina Panthers.
All four of the Steelers’ preseason games will be televised locally on KDKA-TV. Times and dates for these games have not been finalized.
