  • Steelers Place Linebacker Jarvis Jones on Reserve/Injured; Designated for Return List and Sign Linebacker James Harrison

The Steelers placed linebacker Jarvis Jones on the Reserve/Injured; Designated for Return List and signed linebacker James Harrison, the team announced today.

The rule, adopted in 2012, permits Jones to return to practice after spending at least eight weeks on the Reserve/Injured List.

Jones suffered an injury during the team’s Week 3 game at Carolina on Sunday. The second-year linebacker has started each of the team’s first three games of 2014 and totaled 14 tackles (seven solo) along with 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble.

Harrison, who recently announced his retirement on September 5, returns to the Steelers for a 12th season in the NFL and 11th with Pittsburgh (2002, 2004-12 with Pittsburgh and 2013 with Cincinnati).

The Kent State product originally signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2002. He spent the first 10 years of his NFL career with Pittsburgh and appeared in 131 regular season games (95 starts). Harrison earned five consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2007-11 as a Steeler while helping lead the team to two Super Bowl Championships (XL and XLIII) in three title game appearances.

Harrison will wear No. 92.
