Pittsburgh – This Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds return to Highmark Stadium for their final USL PRO regular season meeting against the Dayton Dutch Lions. Heading into the match against the Dutch Lions, the Riverhounds are undefeated in the month of May and are focused on maintaining their recent form.
The two clubs met on April 20 at Beavercreek Stadium in Dayton, resulting in a dramatic 2-1 win for the Dutch Lions. The Dutch Lions were reduced to 10 men midway through the first half when Eli Garner was sent off for a challenge. A strong individual effort by Gibson Bardsley streaking down the right flank put the home side up in the 38th minute. The Riverhounds found the equalizer in the final seconds of the first half when Matt Dallman found the head of Kevin Kerr all alone at the back post. Receiving a corner in the final minute of play, the Dutch Lions took advantage of the set piece to record the game-winning goal off the foot of Remco Klaasse.
The final leg of the regular season for these two clubs at Highmark Stadium will be filled with attacking prowess, intense individual battles, and physical challenges throughout the full 90 minutes. The side that plays together during the entire match should prevail as the winner.
Promoting the game as ‘Armed Forces Night’, the Riverhounds will have representation from the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy to present the nation’s colors during opening ceremonies. The Riverhounds will be selling patriotic ribbons during the game to raise funds to benefit the troops.
