Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his Week 2 performance, it was announced today.

Roethlisberger completed 21-of-27 passes for 369 yards with three touchdowns for a passer rating of 155.8 against the San Francisco 49ers. It marked his 39th career 300-yard game during the regular season and the 31st time he threw at least three touchdowns in a single game during the regular season. Roethlisberger has thrown at least one touchdown pass in 33 straight home games, which is the second-longest active streak and the sixth-longest streak in NFL history.

This marks the 12th time Roethlisberger has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week and the first time since taking home such honors in back-to-back weeks (Weeks 8-9) in 2014.

Before the start of classes on the morning of April 9, 2014, Alex Hribal, a 16-year-old sophomore, went room to room with an 8- to 10-inch knife in each hand, slashing and stabbing 20 students and security guard. Everyone survived. TribLive’s Zac Gibson spoke with reporters Renatta Signorini and Megan Swift about the event. Signorini was one of the first reporters on the scene.
