The Pirates have recalled infielder/outfielder Steve Lombardozzi (#23) and have selected outfielder Gorkys Hernandez (#51) from Triple-A Indianapolis.
In addition the club has designated RHP Chris Volstad and outfielder Jose Tabata for assignment.
Lombardozzi is in his second stint with the Pirates this season. He went 0-for-4 in five games between May 6-15. In 60 games with Indianapolis, Lombardozzi has hit .316 (72-for-228) with 12 doubles and 27 RBI. He currently ranks fourth in the International League in batting.
Hernandez has batted .275 (65-for-236) with 12 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 28 RBI in 73 Triple-A games this season. He made 68 appearances in center field and five in left field. Hernandez last appeared in the Majors with Miami (45 games) and Pittsburgh (25 games) during the 2012 season. -from Pirates PR Staff.
